This is a 45-60 minutes event that takes place daily when we feed the reindeer. The guests get to follow our guide into the reindeer pen and help to feed the animals.
The reindeer normally eat directly from the hand, and during the activity the guide will talk about the reindeer and the sámi way of herding them.
Only available may - october.
Included in the price:
-coffee and tea-dried reindeer meat and other local delicacies
-interesting fireside discussions
During this activity one of our guides will lead the participants on a shorter hike in our lovely surroundings. The trail leads to a small lake where the group will stop to have a small fika(coffee/tea and snacks) by the fire. Our guide will teach you about the sami life, our reindeer and local traditions.
A pack-reindeer will carry the nessecary equipment and delicacies.
This activity requires that the participant is able to walk along a trail in the forest about 500 m there and back again, not suitable for physically impaired persons.
Our guide will take you into one of our pens where you will get the opportunity to get close up with and pet one of our reindeer.
This activity will let you take really memorable selfies with our pretty animals.
The campsite is beautifully situated next to the forest, west of Jokkmokk. There is a hiking trail that starts at the campsite that leads up to a recreational area which has many different marked hiking trails in various lengths. Next to some of the trails you can find fireplaces, lookout points and a lovely nature.
Our campsite sits on the shore of Skabram lake. Fishing is allowed in the lake, where you can catch perch, roach and pike. You can buy your fishing licenses in our reception, or at ifiske.se. The link below takes you to Jokkmokks Jakt och Fiskevårdsförening, which is the organisation that regulates the fishing in Jokkmokk municipality. You can find alot more information on their website.
The Skabram lake is rather shallow and has quite warm water in the summer time. We have a small sauna on the beach which our guests can rent for a small fee.
The combination of swimming in the lake and then heating up in the sauna afterwards is really refreshing and something we recommend. (Swimming is offcourse something you do on your own risk)
There is a lovely botanic garden at the outskirts of Jokkmokk. Here you can find many different plants that normally only grow in the alpine mountains. The garden is only open during the summertime and is cared for by Ájtte sámi museum, on whoms webpage you can find more information.
The museum in Jokkmokk is a very popular tourist attraction. The exhibitions are of high quality and here you can learn alot about the life in the north of Sweden. There is particularly much information about the sámi people and reindeer-herding. The museum has a small gift shop where you can buy authentic sámi handicraft, jewelry and other things.
There is a popular lunch restaurant in the museum, which we recommend to all our guests.
In Jokkmokk there are many small shops where you can buy fine sami handicraft. A visit to the town is well worth the time and you might find unique, hand-made souvenirs with amazing quality which you can't find anywhere else.
There are two beautiful recreational areas outside Jokkmokk with prepared skitracks during wintertime. One area, Getberget skitracks, is situated about 1 km north of the campsite. We have a skitrack that starts at the camping and connects to the Getberget skitracks. Red and blue tracks on the map are prepared as ski tracks during wintertime, the other colors are hiking trails in the summer.
If you want to ski when it is dark, there's an area with prepared skitracks located by the Talvatis lake in Jokkmokk (outside of Hotel Jokkmokk).
There are also nice possibilities to ski on the Skabram lake, just next to the campsite.
(Please notice that we don't provide gear for skiing, this you need to arrange on your own.)
There are several slopes in the villages and towns close by Jokkmokk where you can go downhill skiing. Kåbdalis in particular is a fantastic place if you enjoy these kind of activities.
When you visit the arctic a snowmobile safari is a must if you haven't allready done it before. We can recommend Samelandsresor, a local company in Jokkmokk with many years of experience with these kind of activities. They also provide rental cars if you are in need of a car.

Enjoy our own sauna in winter conditions. Throw yourself into the snow and roll around in the cold before you go back into the steaming hot sauna. This is something you must not miss out on when you visit the arctic!
This is a lovely activity which is very popular in this region of the world. There is a multitude of snowmobile tracks around Jokkmokk, leading in all sorts of directions. Some tracks are fresh and soft and not suitable to walk on, while most tracks are very hard and perfect for hiking. You never know where you end up when you walk along these tracks, but they sure make it easy to get around in nature! The best part? It's completely free!
If you want to hike in the soft snow or go on trips in the wilderness you can rent snow shoes in our reception.
