Just a few days to go and then it is time for Northern Europe's largest winter festival: Jokkmokk Winter Market.

The population of Jokkmokk is already busy for months and months with the preparations. Visitors come from all over the world to enjoy the Sami handicrafts, performances, exhibitions and to take place in activities such as dog sledding, skiing in the old fashion way, igloo building and of course the famous reindeer race on the lake Talvatis.

Jokkmokk market starts with the Historic Market on the 30th of January. The historic market wants to recreate the experience of a market for 400 years ago. On Thursday the 2th of February starts the ‘big’ winter market which lasts for three days. In more than 400 years, people have traveled to Jokkmokk for buying and selling, socializing with friends and have fun.
